The sound of EDM

Parallel to my Haiku generation, I have been working hard on EDM meta subscript programs. These are programs written within a Framework that create Midi files to be fed into a Music production system.

The Framework and meta subscript programs are written within a database, extracted using Perl, and then fed into Ableton Live.

I had not intended to, but for my first journey into music generation I ended up with a Reggae tune, I had started with analysing Beethoven so that was a surprise.

The meta subscript programs are essentially ways of making music rather than the music itself, and every time the program is run something different is generated. Most are not very good, but there are diamonds amongst the dross, and it is almost immediately obvious if the generated tune is dross.

The first, in my opinion at least, non-dross riff generated has been put up on soundcloud here:

Where this links into the Haiku generation is that I can manipulate words to form lyrics to the songs I generate.

From my experience with the Haiku generator I know that this is going to generate some very odd lyrics.

I am at the moment working hard on other meta constructs, mainly on Blues and Heavy metal songs and lyrics.
